Ashley Campuzano plays the role of Tiffany Ramos on the groundbreaking original series “East Los High” on Hulu. The teen drama follows the lives of high school students in East Los Angeles as they tackle issues such as domestic abuse, relationships and bullying, promising to bring the high school drama to a whole new level.
Ashley, a Southern Californian native, grew up in the community of Downey and speaks fluent Spanish. She discovered her passion for the performing arts at the young age of 8, when she began dancing and cheerleading for local teams. At the age of 12, Ashley was discovered by a scout at a mall, and soon began her career in the entertainment industry.
Ashley has held titles as Miss Teen Downey in 2007, Miss Teen California Latina in 2008, and also competed in the national competition for Miss Teen US Latina, the Miss Teen California USA pageant and placed in the Top 15. She was an official CHIVAS girl for the professional MLS team CHIVAS USA and graduated from California State University of Los Angeles in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Communications.

Hi Ashley please tell us a little about you?

Born and raised in Downey, CA, of Mexican descent. I was crowned Miss Teen California Latina 2008 and held Miss Teen/ Miss Downey in my hometown. I was also a professional cheerleader for the MLS soccer team Chivas USA, and recent graduate of CSU Los Angeles, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Communications.

So how did it all begin?

It all began when I was a little girl walking through a mall with my mom. I got approached by an agent and decided to take the chance in going in for a meeting and ever since then I have been on the road to making my dreams come true.

Tell us about your character Tiffany Ramos in HULU’s “East Los High”?

Tiffany is a Texas native, seductive Bomb Squad member and hopeless romantic. As she attempts to make amends and pays the consequences for her passed decisions, Tiffany decides to take a hard stance on sex in order to find the guy of her dreams.

How did you have involved in this project?

I got involved with East Los High by auditioning. It was definitely a long process, had 4 callbacks following a dance audition. But it was all worth it!

You have been awarded as Miss Teen Downey in 2007 and Miss Teen California Latina in 2008? Tell us about that?

Growing up I entered a lot of pageants and developed a hobby out of it. When I was 15 years old I won the title of Miss Teen Downey. Then after my reign I continued doing other pageants and then won the title of Miss Teen California Latina in 2008 where I placed 2nd runner up in the Miss Teen U.S. Latina competition. Following that title I also ran for Miss Downey 2010 and won. They were all amazing experiences I really got to connect with many communities and volunteer at lot events.

You are a busy girl, can you tell about all the projects that you are currently working on? 

Currently in development with projects of my own along side Oscar Torres (writer/friend).

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Outgoing, Dedicated, Resilient.

Who is your favorite Actor/Actress? And why?

Tough one because I have so many favorites. But I would go with Eva Longoria; she is a great actress and very well rounded. I want to fall in her footsteps so I really admire her.

Any loves other than acting?

Yes, grew up dancing which is another one of my passions. I also like taking cycling classes for fun. I also like to travel and explore new places that I have not been to.

How is a normal day in your life?

My normal day compared to others is a bit crazy, usually an early start to my day, filled with meetings, auditions, and lots of driving around LOL. Ending my day either at a cycling class or at the gym following a good dinner.

What’s the best part of being an actress?

The best part of being an actress is being able to portray different characters. It is so much fun dissecting scripts and creating characters. Also the people you get to work with such as great actors, directors, etc.

Something people don’t know about you?

I had my own float at the Pasadena Rose Parade in 2010.

Best advice ever given?

NEVER GIVE UP, no matters how many times you fall, get back up and try again.

Name 3 things you can’t live without?

Family, Cell phone, Ice Coffee

What is your idea of a perfect Sunday?

My idea of a perfect Sunday would be sleeping in with a home made breakfast and spending the day with my loved ones enjoying each other’s company.

What do you think of Social Media?

I think social media has its pros and cons, just like everything else. But overall I think it’s a good outlet for communication and staying connected with people. It keeps everyone connected and in the loop all over the world.
