Our interview with Hawaii native breakout star Ethan Wacker.
Known for his current role as a series regular on the Disney Channel hit series “Bizaardvark,” 15-year-old actor, Ethan Wacker portrays ‘Bernie’ opposite Olivia Rodrigo as ‘Paige’ and Madison Hu as ‘Frankie.’ The comedy series follows music duo ‘Paige’ and ‘Frankie’ as they gain popularity on their YouTube channel and sign to Vuuugle Studios, while ‘Bernie’ acts as their music agent.
Growing up in Hawaii, Ethan is a lover of sports and the outdoors, using his downtime to play tennis, as well as to go to the beach, hike, ski and practice archery. As an actor, Ethan is passionate about television and film; he stays up-to-date on the newest films by going to the movie theater multiple times a week.
Hi Ethan please tell us a little about yourself?
I’ve lived in different places such as Seoul Korea and Hawaii. I have traveled a lot to places like Japan, China (and I have a Chinese sister), Indonesia, the Philippines and more. I went to London and Paris as a student ambassador repping Hawaii. I love to travel in the US to places like Wyoming, Utah and others. So I’ve met lots of different and interesting people. I’m an observer, always looking around and taking it in. I love to be sporty and watch sports. I hang with family and friends a lot. I like to go, go, go and then chill. I’m a happy and grateful person.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Fun loving guy
Why and how did you get started in acting?
I loved Disney Channel as a kid. It was on non-stop in our house. When I was 11, I asked my mom if I could go to the Hilton Hotel in Honolulu because some casting people from LA were coming. The rest was luck and determination. I feel very lucky that things turned out.
How’s a typical day in your life?
Wake up slowly (love to sleep in); then I talk my family back home in Hawaii and eat soup or waffles for breakfast. Then I head to set during the season (we are in Season 2 of Bizaardvark now). Go to school on set and work. Come home, go to the gym for a work out or see any new movie that is out.I aways read up on current events, stay active on social media, catch up with friends and eat dinner.
What was your first acting role?
A Pizza Hut commercial (that never aired :-), then a Jimmy Kimmel show.
Who has made the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?
My family. We have moved from Connecticut where I was born, to Seoul South Korea to Honolulu. We ski every year in Utah and now I spend a lot of time in LA. The one constant thing is my family. We are very close and do a lot of things together like hiking, skiing, ATVing, stand up paddling!
Please tell us about Disney Channel’s hit series “Bizaardvark”, and about your character Bernie?
Bizaardvark is a Disney Channel show that features youtube tube type acts in a studio called Vuugle. Bizaardvark is a two girl comedy song duo, then there is a DareMeBro Channel and Perfectly Perfect with Amelia. I’m the wanna be agent who is late to the party, and always working to get on the cool list, but managing to miss it every time. But Bernie is a very nice person and a good friend in his own way. It’s a fun show.
What is next for Ethan Wacker?
I am enjoying all of this amazing time on Disney while it lasts. I am open to opportunities that may come up but living in the moment is pretty good right now.
Who is your favorite Actor/Actress? And why?
I really admire Stephen Amell and Mark Wahlberg. Stephen Amell and I are both born on May 8th and I love the show Arrow. I also like and do archery. Mark Wahlberg was incredible in Lone Survivor.
