The universally acclaimed Fifty Shades of Grey Original Motion Picture Soundtrack [Republic Records] has become an international phenomenon and is on track to move well over half a million units globally. The soundtrack went #1 in more than 80 markets on iTunes and has thus far debuted at #1 on the UK and Australian charts, which for Australia marks the first time a film soundtrack has debuted #1 on the ARIA Albums chart. In the United States the soundtrack has sold over 250,000 physical and digital units which makes it the highest first-week theatrical feature soundtrack sales since Michael Jackson’s This Is It in 2009 as well as the biggest debut for a multi-artist compilation soundtrack since 2005. The soundtrack also debuted at #1 on the Billboard Soundtrack Chart. Meanwhile, Universal Pictures and Focus Features’ film opened at #1 bringing in a record breaking 266.6 million dollars internationally over the holiday weekend.

The first two singles, Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” and The Weeknd’s “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)” are both performing as well, both occupy spots in the Top 10 of iTunes Overall Top Songs Chart. “Love Me Like You Do” is also currently holding the #1 spot in the UK, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland and Ireland, and also topping iTunes in 62 countries including the Unites States while “Earned It” has reached the Top 5 on iTunes in 52 counties, including the UK and France. The Weeknd also recently performed “Earned It” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
As soon as the Fifty Shades of Grey Original Motion Picture Soundtrack went on-sale, it captured the #1 spot on iTunes Overall Top Albums Chart. Various entries from the soundtrack continue climbing the charts as well. The album features Sia’s “Salted Wound”, Skylar Grey’s “I Know You” and AWOLNATION’s “I’m On Fire” as well as music from legends such as Frank Sinatra and Rolling Stones and superstars including Beyoncé and more.
