Hi Jordyn, please tell us a little about you?

Hey Naluda Magazine, thanks for having me! I’m a 13-year-old actress, currently as a series regular on ABC TV’s Home Economics. I also enjoy singing and playing the ukulele. In my spare time, I love hanging out with my friends at the mall and going
on picnics!

If your friends or family could describe you in 3 words, what would they be?

Funny, fashionable, and easy-going.

How did you get started into acting?

When I was 18 months old, I did a few print jobs, which got me started in the acting industry. When I turned 7 years old, I moved on from print jobs and began to pursue theatrical work. My mom and I moved to Los Angeles where I got an amazing manager and I signed with an agent. After I had some success, my father joined us in LA.

What is the best and worst part of being an actress?

The best part is the feeling of passion towards acting and the worst part for me is Rejection.

How do you prepare for a role?

I make sure to memorize my lines, get a good idea of the character description, and give it 110% when auditioning, because you must make a great first impression.

Tell us about your work in ABC’s comedy hit “Home Economics?”

I play Shamiah on ABC’s Home Economics. She is super sweet, yet funny. I enjoy the fact that she loves her family, and she is adopted just like me 🙂

What other projects have you been part of?

I’ve played in various TV shows including Raven’s Home, Bizaardvark, and The Neighborhood. I have also worked in various films/movies including Marriage Story, Nash Bridges, and Lilly’s Light.

What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?

I absolutely love doing comedy, but I have a huge passion for drama roles. I am excited for my next drama role that’s coming out soon!

What is the most rewarding part of your work?

Feeling proud of your work and your delivery on lines, is what is most rewarding to me.

What’s your advice for the newer actors?

Always have a passion for everything you do, because the second that you lose that passion, working starts to feel like a chore.

What would you say are the greatest lessons you learned so far in this business?

Never get up. I am always giving 110%, in spite of the many rejections that I receive in order to get one booking.

How would your best friend describe you?

Friendly, humorous & supportive.

What advice would you give to your younger self and why?

Be yourself – Never change to fit in.
