Hi Carlos, please tell us a little about you?
I am the CEO and Founder of Finhabits, a digital financial platform that helps the minority worker in the US build wealth by creating smart financial habits.
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Latino, Entrepreneur, Finance.
What’s your background?
I was born in El Paso TX and I reside in New York City. I graduated from MIT as an engineer and worked on Wall Street for almost 10 years. After all these years, I developed a passion for solving financial problems using technology.
Who has been the biggest influence on your life?
My dad has been the biggest influence in life. He taught me how to become an expert in any field by rolling up your sleeves and practicing every day.
Tell us a little about your company “Finhabits”?
Finhabits is a leading digital financial platform that helps minorities invest in the stock market to generate long-term wealth. Our team has 16 years of experience in the field and we provide high-quality products via our App.
How did you got inspired to pursuit this venture?
I grew up in a middle-class family that didn’t talk about long-term money habits. We discussed how to work hard, but we never discussed the importance of putting your money to work for you – or build wealth. I realized that many Latino families don’t talk about how to build wealth and I decided to change that.
Where the name comes from?
The name Finhabits is a combination of financial habits. Our app helps build smart financial habits with repetitive actions. You can’t lose 20 pounds if you just go to the gym once. You have to build a habit of working out over a long term period. That’s how you become healthier. The same happens in finance. It’s all about the habits.
What part of your job do you find the most challenging?
The most challenging part of being the CEO of Finhabits is that I have to wear 10 different hats every day. I have to think about the long-term business strategy, I have to understand what happened in the market today, I have to figure out how to expand the team, and I have to make sure our technology platform is running.
Where we can get more information or download the app?
Can you tell us why people should go and invest with Finhabits instead of other companies?
Finhabits helps you get started investing the right way. Instead of trying to pick stocks, we build a diversified portfolio for you. All you have to do is decide how much money you want to contribute per week. We take care of the rest.
Any advice to other young entrepreneurs out there?
The best businesses start by solving an existing problem that you have personally experienced. If you figure out how to solve this problem then it is very likely that other people have the same problem and your solution will help them as well. I started Finhabits because I didn’t know what a 401(k) was.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
Zero to One by Peter Thiel.
Do you support any charity?
I am the board member of Project Paz, a non-profit that helps children affected by the drug war in Mexico build resilience in life.

Restaurant: Prune in NYC
