Check out our interview with Middle-Eastern born and LA based pop singer-songwriter Yarin Glam who just released her new single “Side Effects.”
As a mental health advocate, the powerful single was written about the polarizing effects of anxiety and Glam’s first hand experience with panic attacks. Over diluted beats, lush reverberations, and pristine vocals, Glam courageously recounts her innermost thoughts in hopes of easing the pain in others.
“Side Effects” uses melodic echoes to dive beneath the surface of our subconscious and step inside our heads. Yarin Glam admits, “Going through any mental health struggles can feel very isolating. I wanted to raise awareness to the subject, and I wanted anyone who goes through what I go through to feel not alone.” It’s a track that brings people together through emotional vulnerability and intimate storytelling.

Tell us about your new song “Side Effects?”
I wrote it at a point in my life where things felt dark. I was very anxious and was struggling with panic attacks. I wanted to write about it in order to have others who suffer from mental health issues feel seen and heard.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
To never ever give up on your dreams. I would tell myself that her looks are not her worth. I would tell her that reaching out for help is not something to be ashamed of. And I would tell her that the freedom that she wants so badly will come once she fully accepts her true self. If I knew all this earlier, I feel like I would have saved myself from a lot of pain. But at the end of the day, the things I’ve been through have shaped me into the person I am today.
What is your own definition of happiness?
A sense of peace. Feeling at peace is what I think real happiness looks like.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
Making the best music of my life. Touring the world. Making my dreams a reality
