Check out our interview with multitalented singer, actress and model Sam Pio who is set to release a cover album of faith-based Christian Gospel songs such as Amazing Grace and O’Lord, as well as a solo album with originally written Christian songs later this year. The goal of her music is to bring an angelic, spirit-filled message of hope, love and light after the tumultuous time the world experienced.

Sam has appeared in commercials, theater production, television series, independent films, and has graced main stage events across the country. The independent film she stars in, “Little May,” is out at award winning film festivals, and her 26-television episode “Love at Work” series is scheduled to premiere on the Hope Channel (date TBD). In this production, Sam is the youngest of 15 singers in this musical, based on the ten Commandments of the bible, alongside Whitney Phipps, Yolanda Innocent Palmer, Neville Peter and nine others.

In December 2020, Sam performed alongside Goo Goo Dolls’ John Rzeznik for Amazon Prime’s first augmented reality movie musical called “It’s Christmas All Over with the Goo Goo Dolls.” A true philanthropist at heart, Sam has used her talent and performed to help raise money for the Los Angeles Food Bank and the families in need.

Please tell us a little about you?

I am 9 years old; I live in LA and I am a Christian recording artist. I have 2 albums coming out and I have a huge faith in God.

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Fun, loving, kind. Worship leader, messenger of God

We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?

It all started when I was 2 years old anytime when I would see a stage I would go to the stage and convince the people on the stage to give me their instrument and I would start singing and dancing away. As I got older, I started doing musical theater, commercials, short films, singing at charity events, and live shows. I did my first one-hour concert when I was 7 years old. And at 8 years old, I performed for a holiday special Amazon Prime with the Goo Goo Dolls. I also started singing at churches and became a worship leader, all the way to now.

Describe your sound in 3 words?

Inspirational, worship, contemporary

Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?

God because He is the creator of everything. And He is the very reason we are all alive today. He inspired me to choose to make music.

Do you play any instrument?

Yes. I play the piano, recorder and guitar.

Do you ever get nervous?

Yes. But only a little bit because my mom always says, it’s good to be a little nervous because that means you know what’s going on. God always gives me the confidence I need for whatever He has me do.

Tell us about your new cover album of faith-based Christian Gospel?

My Album is called, “Be Blessed” and it’s all songs by famous Christian recording artists like “O’Lord” by Lauren Daigle, “Everything” by TobyMac, “Amazing Grace” by John Newton. It’s a mixture of contemporary Christian songs and Hymns.

What’s the story behind the project?

The Be Blessed album was inspired by my Blessing song. During the pandemic everybody was very sad, but God brought a blessing in the middle of the virus. You know how people have to wear a mask and stay home but God made that a way to bring people closer to Him. Now that the grownups are staying home with their kids, they can spend more time with their family and show their kids how much they love them. And it gives families more time to pray together and read the Bible together and more time to give snuggles to their pets.

Tell us about the experience performing alongside Goo Goo Dolls’ John Rzeznik for Amazon Prime’s first augmented reality movie musical called “It’s Christmas All Over with the Goo Goo Dolls?”

Well, the moment I heard I was going to sing with the Goo Goo Dolls, I almost fainted. I was sooo excited. John is a really funny guy. He cracks the funniest jokes. After the show he gave me a guitar with all the cast signatures, even mine. Next time I see him I am going to give him a big hug.

Which project is still on your bucket list?

Tour around the world to tell more people about God through my music.

What is fun and rewarding about what you do? And what’s not?

Well, I love everything about what I do but mostly my relationship with God, worship leading, being a messenger of God, just everything. That’s even one of my songs on my album. The most fun part is being a worship leader and doing everything for God. What’s not fun? Absolutely positively nothing! I love everything I do is for God.

What’s next for Sam Pio in 2021?

My first album Be Blessed is going to come out and I am going to have a CD premier party with a cotton candy cake. I want to do more worship leading, I want to finish my original Be The Light album and I can’t wait for what’s coming up for me.

What is your favorite song? And why?

Jesus Loves Me because it’s all about how much God loves us and He loves us so much no matter what we do.

Any loves other than music/acting/modeling?

Baking, swimming, hanging out with friends, praying, reading the Bible, and I know this may sound a little baby like but I love snuggles from my mom because she is my biggest fan. She supports me in everything I do, and she is absolutely amazing.

If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?

Jesus, because He is the son of God and He walked on water, raised the dead and did Miracles and He forgives everyone even robbers.

Best advice ever given?

Every single piece of advice God has given me and He still gives me advice today.

How’s a typical day in your life?

I wake up, have snuggles, eat breakfast, take care of my bunnies, homeschool and I might have a vocal lesson, guitar lesson, learn some worship songs or write my own song or acting class. Depending on the day, I maybe in the recording studio either laying down a track or recording a song for albums. And you never know when a concert or audition might come up. In the evening it’s off to the park or doing something fun.

Name one your strengths?

Hmmm, if I had to choose one it might be my faith or biblical knowledge. I fell in love reading the Bible at 4 years old.

Idea of a perfect Sunday?

Going to church, leading worship, getting cotton candy, reading my bible, movie night, hug my bunnies and snoozzzz.

What is your favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?

I don’t know why but sometimes I just belt out the song, I Can Only Imagine.

Rapid Fire Questions:

What is your own definition of happiness?

Being in heaven

Do you support any charities?

Yes. I love animals so helping Animal shelters is something dear to my heart, like Lorey’s Project. I also like helping people in need like the LA Food Bank or the Kiwanis Club.

How do you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself touring around the world, getting better as a worship leader, having a better relationship with God. I have a great relationship now, but I want my relationship to get even bigger and better. I want to do everything with Him.

How would you describe your fashion style?

Free Flowing, down to earth and what I usually wear is a dress with tights and sneakers.

What do you think of Social Media?

I think it’s a wonderful way for people to get to know people and they can get to know me.
