Check out our interview with talented singer-songwriter, circus infused performer and actress Mercy who just released her new single “Broke Bad.”

Her music was featured in India’s blockbuster SAAHO starring Prabhas and her first single, BHAAG “SAAHO BANG BANG”, was released alongside the official movie trailer. In just two weeks, the trailer had more than 110 million views.

In 2016, MERCY launched her own two-girl circus road show, BIO DOLLS, a high-intensity, thrill-filled cabaret featuring aerial stunts, fire acts and acrobatics. MERCY has wowed audiences with her unique entertainment at New York’s premier pride event Siren, along with Harley Davidson’s Bike Week and numerous Electronic Music Festival performances. MERCY topped the bill as the featured burlesque dancer and fire performer for the Star Casino and five consecutive Rock the Ink tattoo conventions.

Between circus tours and spotlight shows, MERCY returned to the big screen as a background performer in 2015’s Maze Runner and in Shot Caller, released in 2017. She pulled double duty on Michael Bay’s 6 Underground starring Ryan Reynolds in 2018 as both an actress and stuntwoman.

Hi Mercy, please tell us a little about you?

Hi! I’m a singer-songwriter, circus infused performer and actress. I’m heavily involved in the LGBTQ+ and Alternative scene. I grew up between Albuquerque, New Mexico and Los Angeles, California but have been traveling the world for the last couple years filming on several movies, creating music and performing.

Describe your sound in 3 words?

Energetic, Alternative, Unique

Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?

I have so many musical influences from David Bowie, Freddy Mercury, Madonna, Pink, Ashnikko, In This Moment, to edm DJ’s like Excision, Krewella, Alison Wonderland (especially her new project Wyte Fang). The list goes on for like ever! I ultimately decided to start making my own music because I love music. Everything in my life has revolved around music for so long. I spent my entire life going to as many live shows as I could. I still have a ton of my old ticket stubs from when I was teen! When I got into the electronic music scene as a fire dancer I felt like I was coming home. That combined with my love of singing it was only natural that I would turn to making my own songs.

Do you play any instrument?

I play a little piano still but I’m not nearly as good as I used to be when I was younger

Do you ever get nervous?

Yeah of course. Every song, every performance is so personal. It’s a look into my soul with a magnifying glass. As much as I LOVE what I do there’s also that moment of “What if I’m not good enough?” every time.

Tell us about your new single “Broke Bad?”

Broke Bad is a Glow-Up Anthem. It’s about coming out of a crap relationship and becomes the hottest, most bad ass version of yourself.

What’s the story behind the song?

It came from my last bad relationship. I really lowered my standards with this particular person and I became a person I wasn’t proud of to be with them and make them happy. It was this breakup that really made me remember who I was and because of that my glow-up physically, mentally, emotionally and especially career wise was HUGE.

What is the most rewarding part of your work?

The most rewarding part of making music is when people reach out to tell you that they feel connected to your songs. They open up and they tell you their experiences. I think through music we feel less alone, less hurt, less different in a way. When people find this with my music I know that everything I am doing and everything I’ve been through is worth it.

Now tell us about Ibiza Pride and what people can expect of the event and about your performance?

This is my second year at Ibiza Pride and we’re definitely going BIGGER and BETTER this year. My set is longer and includes 8 songs. The choreography is pure fire and I’ve included a lot of my circus influence in this set.

How did you got involved into that event?

I performed two years ago for Ibiza Pride and had just the most amazing experience. I promised them right there and then that I would always room in my schedule for them

What book should every entrepreneur read?

I think every entrepreneur should read The Secret. It was one of my first introductions to the law of attraction and manifestation, both of which have vastly changed my life and my career.

What advice would you give to your younger self and why?

Do it SCARED! It’s ok to be afraid of something but don’t let that stop you from doing something. Courage isn’t the lack of fear. Courage is being afraid and doing it anyway. I let the fear of being judged by people or me failing  hold me back from trying to do things that I really wanted to do.

How would your best friend describe you?

As a crazy, determined, magical mermaid! Her words ha!

If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?

Becoming Mercy. I think I’ve been on this constant path of evolution for as long as I can remember and the more that I learn about myself and the world the more I think I was always be evolving and learning how to be more authentically myself.

What’s next for Mercy in 2023?

I have two movies coming out this year that I have roles in and I just confirmed another role that I will hopefully filming this year as well as doing my first North American tour starting after Ibiza Pride. I also have four new songs and two music videos dropping by the end of the year. It’s shaping up to be a pretty busy year.

What is your favorite healthy food?

My favorite healthy food is sushi. I could eat fish literally every single day for the rest of my life.

And your favorite cheat food?

My favorite cheat food is spicey tantanmen ramen, but it has to gluten free or I will die, which is hard to get. Either that or a really good gluten free, dairy free ice cream.

How would you explain your fashion style?

I think my fashion style is a little eclectic but in general I think you could describe it as Alternative Rocker Barbie.

What is your own definition of happiness?

Happiness for me is being surrounded by good music and good company.

If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?

I would have to say Freddy Mercury. I will never forget the first time I listened to a Queen song, laying on the floor of my first girlfriend’s room, listening to her suitcase record player. It was life changing. It’s not only that his music is extraordinary but all the inner turmoil that Freddy went through and his journey of self acceptance is something that really strikes a cord with me.

What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?

I’d like to go somewhere tropical with my whole family. It would be really nice to be able to take both my family and my husband’s family somewhere where they could all relax.

Best advice ever given?

Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.

Do you support any charity?

I do. I contribute to a number of LGBTQ+ organizations as well as GreenPeace and Defenders of Wildlife.

Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?

I see myself touring large arenas and being recognized world wide for my music with billboard top hits

What is you favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?

My favorite song to sing in the car right now is Ashnikko’s new WeedKiller. It’s a whole vibe. My favorite Karaoke song is Anyone by Demi Lovato. The lyrics fit my life so well that it almost hurts and because of that I feel like I sing it from my soul.

What do you think of Social Media?

Social media is a double edged sword. On one side it allows you to instantly connect to possibly millions of people that can so much more easily access your music than in the past. But on the other hand the algorithms are changing at a speed that makes contention creation along side music creation incredibly hard. I often get frustrated with it. I hate being on phone as much as I have to be.
