Hi Zoe, please tell us a little about you?
Hi guys! My name is Zoe Clark and I am a pop singer songwriter based in Nashville,TN!
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Authentic, Loyal, Honest.
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
I knew I always wanted to be a singer and a songwriter. (My mom has home videos from when I was two years old performing songs I wrote haha)! Music has always been my safe haven and escape. Whether I was going through heartbreak, an unrequited love, or growing into the person I am now, I always looked to music as my outlet. I love the feeling of hearing a song for the first time thinking it was written just for me. Music has this incredible way of making people feel seen and feel less alone and because it has helped me, I want to do that for others. Music is my diary and a way to share my thoughts to the world.
How has this changed your life?
By posting my music on social media, I have created an incredible community of people who relate to my music!
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Honest, relatable, authentic.
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
I grew up listening to James Taylor and Carol King – two songwriters who are not only my idols, but taught me how to turn stories into songs. As I grew up, Julia Michaels and Taylor Swift became huge influences of mine. Julia Michaels writes such honest lyrics, which is what I strive to do and Taylor Swift has shown me to be vulnerable and that specificity in lyrics is super important.
Do you play any instrument?
I play guitar and piano!
Do you ever get nervous?
I think it’s always nerve-wracking when a new song comes out to the world because the second you release it, it’s not yours anymore. It’s for others to interpret.
Tell us about your new single “Wrong Time?”
“Wrong Time” is all about dating in your twenties in 2022. Love today is filled with endless dating apps, dm slide ins, and hook ups and this song is about wanting a true love connection.
What’s the story behind the song?
My girlfriends and I were watching rom coms one night and we were all falling in love with the male main characters who were going above and beyond for their romantic interests. (Showing up with flowers, planning fun dates, star gazing, etc), and we immediately could not relate and craved an emotional connection – an emotional connection you can’t get by just talking to someone via dating apps or dm’s.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Connecting with others and making them feel seen and heard.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert and Year of Yes by Shonda Rhymes.
What would you say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
I am learning new lessons every day. Right now, my favorite quote/lesson is “luck is a symptom of hard work, and “If you were presented with your dream opportunity today.. Would you be ready?”
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
I would tell my younger self to enjoy the present moment and to stop rushing the future! I am someone who is constantly looking ahead and thinking about what I want to achieve next instead of celebrating my wins and enjoying my present moment. Now I’m enjoying the journey and celebrating wins!
How would your best friend describe you?
I hope she would describe me as loyal, an advice giver, a shoulder to cry on, and supportive.
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
“Hey, can I get some help over here?” by Zoe Clark.
What’s next for Zoe Clark in 2022?
Tour and an EP!
What is your favorite healthy food?
I love sushi and I love fruit salad!
And your favorite cheat food?
I am a sucker for a chocolate chip cookie.
How would you explain your fashion style?
I love fashion. I would describe my style as timeless, comfortable and effortless. I love to build my wardrobe around staple pieces (which helps when I travel), and I love to be comfortable. I love oversized blazers, leather jackets, linen pants, classic white tops, and jordans.
What is your own definition of happiness?
My definition of happiness is to be at peace in all aspects of my life. Happiness to me is enjoying the small things in life – watching the waves crash in the sand, having family dinners and movie nights with friends, being confident in my choices, and doing what I love to do everyday.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would like to meet Elvis. Elvis changed the music industry by going against the norms and being himself. I want to learn about his life and the advice he can share as a performer and songwriter.
What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?
I have always wanted to go to The Maldives with my family and it is definitely a trip I hope to take them on.
Best advice ever given?
“Your life is your responsibility. If you don’t like it, change it.”
Do you support any charity?
I do! My family and I avidly support the ALS foundation!
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
I see myself having released a few albums and touring the world!
Favorite song? Why?
My favorite song changes every week. Truly. I am always searching for new music and am a very indecisive person. Right now, my favorite song is “I think I like You” by the Band Camino. The chorus makes you want to just sing along and dance.
What do you think of Social Media?
I love social media. Social Media has changed my life and has allowed me to connect with so many people all around the world!
