Russian born, Los Angeles based pop soul artist Cooper Phillip succeeds in capturing the undivided attention of listeners across the globe. With her intense drive, soaring vocals and passionate songwriting, Phillip is elevating herself to the top of her genre.

Determined to pursue an international career in music, Phillip moved to New York City at the age of 17. With barely a dollar to her name, the singer worked and hustled, performing in weddings and clubs and sleeping in the storeroom of a restaurant where she sang. It wasn’t easy but she would not be deterred. After a few years in the city, Phillip jumped at an opportunity to sing at an important gig in Los Angeles. She never went back.

Phillip’s music features an underlying theme of strength, grace and empowerment. “I believe we underestimate ourselves often and our fear takes over. My goal is to show people that they are stronger and can do much more than they think they can”, she admits.

Cooper Phillip has seen success with her previous single garnering over 10 million listens online.

Hi Cooper, please tell us a little about you?

Hi, I’m Cooper and singing is my universe. I love writing music and share my stories with people. I studied music all my life and was blessed to be born into a musical family.

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Crazy, spontaneous, think too much lol

We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?

I heard Mariah Carey at the age of 11 and got so inspired and decided to become a singer. I studied voice, classical piano, harp and ballet as a kid. When I was 19 I got an opportunity to travel to the US and fell in love with this country and felt like home for the first time in my life. I wanted to see the place where all my idols are making music and got signed in New York shortly after I arrived.

Describe your sound in 3 words?

Pop, soulful, charismatic.

Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?

I grew up at the time where divas were ruling the world of music. I love Whitney, Celine & Beyoncé.

Do you play any instrument?

I do. I play piano and harp

Do you ever get nervous?

Sometimes. It’s good. Cause it’s real.

Tell us about your new single “”Not Perfect?”

It’s a very different style that I was making more pop music and this song is more r&b.
It’s very energetic and talks about how we often allow society to take over and influence our world and change it. It talks about the importance of knowing who you are and what you truly want.

What is the feeling of being a popular influencer?

I feel a lot of responsibility. When I know that kids are growing up with my philosophy I feel very selective on how I express myself.

What is fun and rewarding about what you do? And what’s not?

Love of the audience is the most rewarding part of course. And the fact that I can do what I love is just amazing.

What do you think is the secret to have a successful Instagram account?

I really don’t have one. I think the key is staying active and create fun content.

What are the five things you can’t live without?

Sushi
My car (love driving)
California (love palm trees)
My students (I teach my original singing method all over the world: went to 19 countries and have currently 6000 students)
