Check our latest interview with beautiful and very talented actress Skyler Day from MTV series “Sweet/Vicious”. Skyler is best know for her role as Amy Ellis on acclaimed NBC series “Parenthood”.

But for Skyler not everything is acting, she is also a talented musician who will have a residency in the renowned Hotel Café in Los Angeles in January and the beginning of February.

Hi Skyler, please tell us little about you?

Hey there! Well, first off I’m an actress, singer and songwriter. I live in California but I grew up in a small city just outside of Atlanta, GA. I have an older sister, Savannah, and a twin brother, Dalton. I have a big, amazing family. I love horror movies, thanks to my mom. I love making lists, another thanks to my mom. I’m the one at the party that’s always trying to get a boardgame going. I could listen to Frank Sinatra all day everyday. I’m also obsessed with all things Fall! Fall candles, Fall leaves, Fall clothes… you get the gist.

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Driven. Optimistic. Chipper.

Who was your role model as a child?

My mom. She still is. I’ve looked to her for advice and guidance every step of the way. And she has never stopped supporting me and believing in me.

How did you get started into music and acting?

I was six years old when I started performing in school plays, singing at my Church and fairs/festivals around town. Then my mom and I randomly met an agent in line at the DMV who said I should get into print and commercials. I did that for a while but when I turned 10 I decided I needed a Theatrical agent. Once I signed with an agency, I made a deal with my parents that if I booked the lead in a movie by my 11th birthday we would move to California so I could really pursue my career. Oh yes, I was a scrappy little thing. I achieved my goal and we made it to California on my 13th birthday.

What did your parents first think of you being an actress and in the music business?

We were a gymnastics family growing up. My parents owned a training center and my siblings were competitive gymnasts. So I definitely threw them for a loop when I said I wanted to be an actress and singer. But they were extremely supportive once they saw how serious I was about it.

Tell us about the MTV series “Sweet/Vicious”, and about your character?

“Sweet/Vicious” follows two college students, Jules and Ophelia, who find themselves moonlighting as vigilantes and seeking to bring justice for victims of sexual assault on the campus. I play Mackenzie Dalton, Jules sorority sister. Mackenzie is a fourth generation legacy at the Zeta Zeta Psi house and is very determined to keep the sorority in order. So she’s constantly getting in the way of Jules’ secret life.

Now about your residency at renowned Hotel Café in LA?

I’M. SO. EXCITED. This is my first residency and to have it at The Hotel Cafe is amazing. There will be four Saturday shows… January 7th, 14th, 28th and February 4th. I plan to have a special guest at each one and I will also be debuting NEW SONGS! I’ve been in the studio working on my next EP for the past few months and I can’t wait to share the new music with an audience.

How’s a typical day in your life?

Well my day always changes depending on what I’m working on at that moment. But lately it’s been… Wake up.
Practice my Hotel Cafe set.
Head to the studio.
Order Thai Food (lately my producer and I are really into Drunken Noodle. It’s all about that Drunken Noodle.).
Write/record some more.

How would you describe your style?

Ever-changing. It just depends on my mood that day. I do tend to lean towards a more classic and simple style but it’s always fun to switch it up!

What do you do to stay fit?

Yoga and pilates!

What is your favorite healthy food?

I love arugula. Arugula salads. Arugula on sandwiches. Arugula on everything!

And your favorite cheat food?

Ice cream. But I don’t consider it my cheat food. Ice cream’s my friend. 😉

Who is your role model?

In life, my mom. In acting, Amy Adams. In music, Carole King.

If you were sent to a desert island, what three things would you take with you?

My guitar. My fiancé. And sunscreen, even though that’s lame.

What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?

I would love to go to Paris with my fiancé.

What is fun and rewarding about acting and singing? And what do you dislike?

Both acting and singing allow you to connect with people on a level that’s almost magical. It’s the most rewarding thing in the world to make people feel something through a song or a scene.

I dislike not doing it. The in-between when I’m not filming or performing. Also, the rejection is never fun but I always feel like I learn something from it and get a little bit stronger every time. So I can’t be too mad at rejection.

What do you like to watch on tv?

Westworld, Homeland, Stranger Things, Silicon Valley… I could go on for days.

Any future plans you want to share with us?

My new EP! I don’t have a release date yet but I’m hoping for early 2017. So keep an eye out!

Do you support any charity?

I’ve loved working with this incredible organization called Musicians On Call. They bring live music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities. It’s such a rewarding experience and shows how powerful music can be.  musiciansoncall.org

What do you think of Social Media?

I think it’s a great place to connect and interact with fans. I love getting to hear what they think about an episode that just aired or new music that I’ve released.
