When it comes to hair removal, there are lots of different solutions. Many people feel overwhelmed and choose to go to a professional. Not only is this costly, but it is also time-consuming.
There are options for removing your body hair at home – you just need to find which method works best for you. Let’s take a look at the different options so you can feel confident in your choice.
Shaving
Shaving is a very popular option for hair removal at home. This is mainly due to how quick and easy it is to fit into your daily routine.
There are two main options: a disposable razor or an electric one. Both tools have built-in blades which are designed to lift the hair from your skin’s surface as it cuts. This results in a close shave, leaving your skin soft and hairless.
Depilatory creams
You may have seen depilatory creams in your pharmacy or drugstore as they are another popular choice. If the thought of using blades seems a bit intimidating, these creams are a great alternative.
Depilatory creams are made up of different chemicals such as titanium dioxide and sodium which break down the proteins in your hair. This makes them dissolve and you can then wash them away. These creams are useful if you are having a shower as you can apply them, do your usual haircare and then wash them away.
Battery-operated tools
In the world of hair removal products, there are newer tools other than razors and creams. Electric hair removal options are becoming more visible on the market. These products are pain-free and simple to use.
Not only do they remove hair quickly, but they also help to prevent ingrown hairs. Many will have pivoting heads, meaning you can reach every inch of your body and get the same result – smooth skin, free from bumps or irritation. You also have the option of dry shaving if you are in a rush which is not recommended with traditional razors.
Waxing
Waxing kits come in two different types. The first is wax strips that you warm in your hands before applying to your skin and then pull off. The second is wax that is melted in a warmer and then applied with a stick.
Many people associate waxing with pain, and whilst the initial pull will be uncomfortable, there are ways to reduce the pain. Make sure the hair you are removing is roughly 1cm in length. Any longer and it may break before the root, causing ingrown hairs. If it is too short, the wax won’t grip onto it and just pull at your skin.
