Check our interview with talented Opera and Classical music vocalist Marta MacQueen!

Hi Marta, please tell us a little about you?

I usually say “my voice describes me best”, for singing – is truly the moment I feel alive, and this is where you can read me like an open book.

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Passionate, loud and happy.

How all started?

I remember lullabies sung by my grandma and the tunes’ deepness that were totally ravishing my mind. There was something absolutely ravishing about those tunes.

When was it that you first realized that you wanted to pursue music as a career?

When I found myself winning numerous competitions, and the absolute attention in the audience while performing.

Did your family support this decision?

Totally.

What is your musical background?

Masters in Classical Performance.

What kind of music do you listen normally?

I listen to a lot of different genres depending on a mood. Sometimes silence can be a great music.

Tell us about your experience singing national anthems in main sports events?

It’s a great energy, which makes it absolutely an unforgettable experience and memory.

And about your Opera singing experience?

Well, there are three different things we need to know about approaches. Different conditions bring different sound production. And they are all great whether it’s live with no mic, or with the current sound systems. Both work amazing.

What is your process for your voice rehearsal for events or plays?

Warm up for a few while playing with the sound.

Describe your sound style in 3 words?

Improvisational, creative, free of burdens.

What music influences do you have?

You discover constantly here and there. The one, probably, that’s written out of inspiration, or deep emotions. It could be any genre. Really.

What is your next goal as an Opera singer?

Keeping it alive, since it’s the longest living music genre till now.

We know you are fan of Boxing. Please tell us about it?

It’s an amazing experience – seeing how endless and unbreakable the human spirit can be, based on being ready to die (after consistent exercising) regardless of the result. For whichever the result is – in every victory – there’s a bit of loss, and in every loss – there’s a bit of victory.

And that’s beautiful to me, despite the fact, that this type of sports is considered to be cruel and rough.

What is your own definition of happiness?

Constant harmony.

What are the five things you can’t live without?

Air, water, food, sleep, silence/music.

Best advice ever given?

Life is short. Take the most off of it.

Do you get nervous before a performance?

Rather excited.

What is next for Marta MacQueen in 2019?

Breathtaking projects including live events.

Any advice for upcoming Opera singers?

To bring that historical music has everything already said in its operatic stories about life. It’s a musical Bible. And of course get excited before stepping in front of a big crowd.

If you weren’t singing, what would you be doing?

Killing them softly with my own written songs. Other than music I would race cars, or style people upon their IQ, looks and desires.

Something people don’t know about you?

It takes a lifetime to get to know yourself. And to be frank I speak 14 languages, which is a lot of fun.

What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?

Make Disney Baloo character real, and fly with him all over the place.

If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?

Freddie Mercury for his energy.

What is your favorite healthy food?

Easy peasy: fresh raw vegetables and fruits.

And your favorite cheat food?

Sundae.

What would be a deal breaker on a first date?

Playing it and trying. I believe in genuine behavior and an authentic start.

Which project is still on your bucket list?

I’ll keep it private.

Idea of a perfect Sunday?

A trip on boat to an unsettled island and back.

Do you support any charity?

Absolutely. Im donating my stage looks.

Any exiting news you want to share with us?

What happens next – remains next until it happens. I like to keep it quiet before the show.

What does fashion mean to you?

It’s definitely an inspiration, that awakes creativity for every figure and body individually.

How would you explain your fashion style?

Wear what’s comfy, fits and inspires everybody.

How important is Social Media for you?

As important as doing laundry – load it and get the best in the end.
